In 1926 the Israel Cattle Breeders' Association (ICBA) was founded. One of it's main goals was to establish regular milk recording in all of the herds in the country that was affiliated with the ICBA. In 1929 there were allready 11 kibbutz herds with a total of 336 cows with official monthly recording. Also the dairymen used to carry out their own individual checks,providing a rich source of data on the milk and fat content of herds in the early days of the country.

As you can see from the boring table above, the Israeli cow has tripled her output in sixty years. If i tell you that here on Ein gev we surpassed the 12,000 litre mark in 1998 i think our cows deserve a pat on the rump.
